You are buying a locally collected Purple Sea Rod Gorgonian colony, a Florida Keys native we hand-collect under our Saltwater Products License with Marine Life endorsements and mounted to live rock. This is a large, upright colony of stiff purple branches studded with white-lavender polyps.
About the Purple Sea Rod
Purple sea rods are hardy, photosynthetic gorgonians with rigid, upright branches that hold their shape and glow purple with contrasting polyps under blue light. A striking, low-maintenance centerpiece native to the Caribbean and Florida Keys, sustainably hand-collected in the Keys.
Care Guide
- Lighting: Low to medium — PAR 50–150.
- Flow: Medium to high — strong, indirect flow keeps polyps out and healthy.
- Placement: Mid to upper rockwork, mounted upright.
- Feeding: Low — largely photosynthetic; occasional fine foods.
- Aggression: Peaceful.
- Water Parameters: Temp 76–78°F, salinity 1.025–1.026, Alk 8–9 dKH, Ca 420–440, Mg 1300–1400. Stability matters most.

Ships UPS Overnight every Tuesday and Wednesday from Key West, Florida. Packed with insulated box and heat or cold pack appropriate for current conditions. Specimen is carefully secured to prevent movement during transit.
