Healthy Acropora shows pale, actively growing tips with polyps extended along the branches, and a base that is fully encrusted with no bare or algae-covered skeleton. Bare white at the base with a clean line moving upward is tissue recession, and it does not stop on its own.Acropora needs strong light and strong random flow, roughly 200 to 400 PAR, and it needs stability more than it needs any particular number. Alkalinity drift is what kills most Acropora in otherwise healthy tanks — a swing of a full point in a day will burn tips even when every other parameter reads fine.Acclimate slowly to light, dip before the frag goes into the display, and expect polyps to stay retracted for several days after shipping. That is normal and not a reason to move the frag.
