Packing and shipping are charged per box, not per coral. The $15 packing fee covers the insulated box, heat or ice packs and the time it takes to pack live coral safely; overnight UPS is the carrier cost of getting it out of Key West alive. A box typically holds around five small frags, so adding compatible corals to the same shipment usually will not add another packing or shipping charge. Larger colonies, species that cannot share water, or extreme weather can require a second box. Orders over $399 ship free.

Florida: $30 overnight livestock shipping. Qualifying Florida livestock orders under 6 lb ship overnight for a flat $30, plus the $15 packing fee. Heavier or mixed shipments use our standard overnight rate, and orders over $399 ship free either way.

Livestock ships to the continental US. Alaska needs a shipping quote before you order, and we cannot ship coral to Hawaii — get in touch first.

Description

You are buying the exact coral in the photo — an Ultra Yuma measuring roughly 3.5 inches across, photographed under blue spectrum reef lighting. The entire disc is carpeted in tightly packed vesicles running a saturated tangerine to coral-orange, each bubble outlined in a brighter yellow-gold rim, and the whole field sits over a violet-magenta base that shows through in radial lines between the rows. The mouth opens in a pale mint-green slit at the center. At 3.5 inches this is a large single polyp rather than a frag — most Yuma offered are well under two. conditioned in our Key West systems, Florida under FL Aquaculture Certificate #AQ0254072.

About Yuma Mushrooms (Ricordea yuma)

Ricordea yuma is the Indo-Pacific Ricordea, distinguished from the Caribbean florida by its larger, more densely packed vesicles and its tendency toward deep saturated oranges and reds. It is a slow grower — a yuma may take months to split even under good conditions — so size on a single polyp is a real indicator of age and care rather than something you can shortcut. Wild yuma also have a reputation for melting in the weeks after import, which is why an Conditioned in our Key West systems piece that has already been growing on stable parameters here in Key West is a materially different proposition.

Care Guide

Straightforward once it is settled, and it asks for less light than most people give it.

  • Lighting: Low to medium — PAR 50–150. Strong light bleaches the orange out quickly; err dim.
  • Flow: Low — gentle indirect flow. Heavy flow keeps the vesicles from inflating.
  • Placement: Sandbed or shaded lower rockwork. Let it attach in place and then leave it alone.
  • Feeding: Low to medium — largely photosynthetic, but finely chopped meaty food or coral powder twice a week will speed growth.
  • Aggression: Peaceful, though it will slowly crowd immediate neighbors as it expands.
  • Water Parameters: Temp 76–78°F, salinity 1.025–1.026, Alk 8–9 dKH, Ca 420–440, Mg 1300–1400. Stability matters more than exact numbers.
