Description
You are buying the exact coral in the photo — an Ultra Rainbow Yuma photographed under blue spectrum reef lighting. The disc is packed edge to edge with raised vesicles: pale sky-blue and teal bubbles across the outer half, each ringed in a hard neon green that lights the whole perimeter, shading inward to smaller amber and rose-gold vesicles over a violet-magenta base. Deep purple radial lines run from the mouth outward beneath the bubbles, and the mouth itself sits open in a green-lipped oval. Three or four distinct pigments on one polyp is what separates a true rainbow Yuma from a bicolor. conditioned in our Key West systems, Florida under FL Aquaculture Certificate #AQ0254072.
About Yuma Mushrooms (Ricordea yuma)
Ricordea yuma is the Pacific cousin of the Florida Ricordea, and the one that carries the vesicle texture and the multi-color banding collectors pay up for. They are notoriously slow to propagate compared to florida — a yuma may take the better part of a year to split — which is why ultra-grade pieces stay expensive even as the rest of the softie market softens. They are also famously particular in the first few weeks after shipping, which is the argument for buying Conditioned in our Key West systems: this one has been growing on stable parameters in Key West and is already conditioned to captive light and flow.
Care Guide
Easy once settled, and it will slowly split into a cluster if you leave it alone in the right spot.
- Lighting: Low to medium — PAR 50–150. Yumas bleach fast under strong light; if in doubt, go dimmer.
- Flow: Low — gentle indirect flow. Strong flow will keep it from inflating and can detach it.
- Placement: Sandbed or shaded lower rockwork. Once it attaches, leave it alone.
- Feeding: Low to medium — it feeds mostly from light, but a small amount of finely chopped meaty food or coral powder a couple of times a week speeds growth.
- Aggression: Peaceful, though it will slowly encroach on immediate neighbors as it spreads.
- Water Parameters: Temp 76–78°F, salinity 1.025–1.026, Alk 8–9 dKH, Ca 420–440, Mg 1300–1400. Stability matters more than exact numbers.
