This is the part of the store that comes out of water we can see from the shop. Hand collected in the Florida Keys, held here, and shipped from the same building.

What that changes for you is the trip the animal took. A Florida Ricordea, a slate pencil urchin or a serpent star has not crossed an ocean, sat in transshipper bags, or spent a week in a wholesaler’s holding system before it reaches you. It went from our water to yours.

The page runs wider than corals. Ricordea and pipe organ sit alongside the cleanup animals that actually belong in a Keys biotope: brittle stars, reef and pin cushion urchins, and the occasional Dusky Jawfish for people who want to watch something build and defend a burrow. Live rock rubble as well.

One warning that is not a warning. Urchins eat coralline and they will move frags. That is not a defect, that is an urchin. Plan the aquascape around it, or plan on re-gluing.
