Fill your box: up to 4 spots ship for one shipping charge. A frag, zoa, small WYSIWYG, cleanup-crew pack or small dry good takes 1 spot. A colony takes 2. A rare big colony takes all 4 and ships alone. Shipping is charged per box: $50 UPS Next Day Air in the lower 48, $30 for qualifying Florida livestock. The $20 Box & Handling Fee is also per box and covers the insulated box plus ice or heat packs. Spots 2 through 4 add no extra shipping. Orders with $299 or more in qualifying livestock ship the first box free; each extra box pays its shipping, and every box pays the fee.

Description

Kenya Tree Leather Coral (Capnella sp.) grows like a small tree: a soft trunk splits into branches, and every branch tip is covered in clusters of fuzzy polyps. Under blue light, ours glows mint to seafoam green with darker green polyp centers.

Choose a frag to start one in your tank, or a colony for an instant tree with full branching. The photo shows our Kenya tree under blue actinic light. Color looks different under full-spectrum lighting.

Kenya trees are one of the easiest soft corals to keep, which makes them a great first coral. They sway in the current and fill in open space on the rockwork fast. They also grow new trees by dropping small branches that root nearby, so give yours a spot where a few new ones would be welcome. Conditioned in our Key West systems.

Care Guide

  • Lighting: Low to medium — PAR 75–150. Acclimate gradually after shipping.
  • Flow: Moderate. Enough to keep the branches moving and help it shed its waxy coating.
  • Placement: Lower to middle rockwork, with room to grow up and out.
  • Compatibility: Peaceful, but like most leathers it can release compounds that bother stony corals in small tanks. Run carbon and give it some space.
  • Feeding: No target feeding needed. It gets what it needs from light and regular water changes.

Kenya trees sometimes shrink down and close up for a day or two to shed a thin waxy film. That is normal, and they open back up once it washes off.
