Packing and shipping are charged per box, not per coral. The $10 packing fee covers the insulated box, heat or ice packs and the time it takes to pack live coral safely; overnight UPS is the carrier cost of getting it out of Key West alive. A box typically holds around five small frags, so adding compatible corals to the same shipment usually will not add another packing or shipping charge. Larger colonies, species that cannot share water, or extreme weather can require a second box. Orders with $349 or more in qualifying livestock ship free.

Florida: $30 overnight livestock shipping. Qualifying Florida livestock orders under 6 lb ship overnight for a flat $30, plus the $10 packing fee. Heavier or mixed shipments use our standard overnight rate. Orders with $349 or more in qualifying livestock ship free.

Livestock ships UPS Next Day Air on Tuesdays and Wednesdays so nothing sits in a facility over a weekend. We ship livestock within the continental U.S. only. We do not ship to Alaska or Hawaii.

Description

WYSIWYG Trachyphyllia Rainbow Open Brain is a free-living open brain coral with fleshy tissue that expands beyond its skeleton. Stable conditions, modest light, and gentle indirect flow support healthy inflation and coloration.

Open Brain Coral Care

Open brain corals respond best to stable reef conditions. Give the coral a flat, secure position where its tissue can inflate without rubbing against rock or being pressed against the skeleton by direct flow. Acclimate it gradually to the stated light range.

Lighting Low to Moderate — PAR 50–100. Use a shaded placement; too much light can cause bleaching or poor extension.
Flow Low — gentle, indirect flow only; strong flow prevents proper inflation.
Placement Free-living on the sandbed. Do not glue or wedge it into rockwork; allow it to rest naturally on the substrate.
Aggression Low to Moderate — sweeper tentacles may extend at night; maintain 3–4 inches of space from neighboring corals.
Feeding Offer appropriately sized meaty food 2–3 times weekly after feeding tentacles extend
Care level Beginner–Intermediate
Water Parameters Salinity 1.025–1.026 · Temperature 76–78°F · Alkalinity 8–9 dKH · Calcium 420–440 ppm · Magnesium 1300–1400 ppm

Placement and Feeding

Keep the coral upright and clear of sharp edges. Its tissue can expand well beyond the visible skeleton, so allow open space and prevent sand, detritus, or neighboring corals from contacting the inflated polyp.

Turn down nearby flow during target feeding, remove uneaten food, and make lighting or placement changes gradually. Stable alkalinity and salinity are more important than frequent adjustments.
