Orange Tipped Green Octospawn (Approx. 2–4″)

Description

You are buying the exact coral in the photo. This is a single Octospawn head, approximately 2–4″ across. Under blue spectrum reef lighting the green tentacles split into short branches, and every branch ends in a rounded orange tip. The center of the head glows teal. Conditioned in our Key West systems.

About Octospawn (Euphyllia divisa)

Octospawn is the trade name for frogspawn whose tentacles fork into short, knobby branches instead of ending in the usual single tips. That branching gives each head a fuller, bushier look than standard frogspawn. Frogspawn is part of the same Euphyllia group as torches and hammers, and taxonomists have since moved it to the genus Fimbriaphyllia. Green tentacles with orange tips make this piece stand out in any LPS section, and the color shows best when it is fully open.

Care Guide

Moderate care. Octospawn does best in steady water with medium light and open space around it.

• Lighting: Medium — PAR 100–200. Start it lower and raise the light over a couple of weeks.
• Flow: Medium — enough to move the tentacles gently, never blasting them flat.
• Placement: Mid rockwork, with a few inches of open space on every side.
• Feeding: Medium — it gets most of what it needs from light, and takes small meaty foods like mysis when the tentacles are out.
• Aggression: High — it puts out long sweeper tentacles at night. Keep it at least 6″ from other corals.
• Water Parameters: Temp 76–78°F, salinity 1.025–1.026, Alk 8–9 dKH, Ca 420–440, Mg 1300–1400. Stability matters more than exact numbers.
