About Rock Flower Anemones (Epicystis crucifer)

Rock flower anemones are native to the Caribbean and Florida. Unlike a bubble tip anemone, a rock flower usually tucks its foot into a rock crevice or the sandbed and stays put, so it is far less likely to wander into a powerhead. Ultra is the grade for the brightest, cleanest color patterns, and no two look the same.

Care Guide

Easy care. Give it stable water, moderate light and a meal once or twice a week.

• Lighting: Medium, PAR 100–200.
• Flow: Low to moderate. Strong direct flow keeps it closed up.
• Placement: Sandbed near rockwork, where it can anchor its foot in a crevice or under the sand.
• Feeding: Small meaty foods like mysis or chopped shrimp placed on the disc once or twice a week.
• Aggression: Mild. It will sting corals it touches, and like any anemone it can catch a small fish or shrimp that sits on it.
• Water Parameters: Temp 76–78°F, salinity 1.025–1.026, Alk 8–9 dKH, Ca 420–440, Mg 1300–1400. Stability matters more than exact numbers.
