Florida Rock Flower Anemones for Sale

The rock flower anemone, Phymanthus crucifer, is native to Florida and the Caribbean. In the wild it buries its column in sand or a crevice and shows only the colorful disc. Ours come from the Florida Keys and are photographed in our Key West systems. WYSIWYG listings are the exact anemone you receive.

What a rock flower is, and is not

A rock flower is not a clownfish host. People keep them for color, and because they usually stay put once they settle, which makes them easier to live with than a bubble tip. They still sting corals they touch.

Rock flower care, in numbers

  • Light: moderate, around 80 to 150 PAR.
  • Flow: gentle and steady. Too much flow and they let go and float around the tank.
  • Feeding: mysis, brine shrimp or chopped seafood once or twice a week.
  • Placement: low, near sand or rubble where the column can tuck in.

Common problems

It is floating. Too much flow, or it has not found a spot it likes. Turn flow down nearby and set it back near rubble.

Fading or bleaching. Usually unstable conditions. Hold light and water steady.
