Desert Rose Goniopora

Description

You are buying the exact Goniopora in the photo. This Desert Rose Goniopora is a small colony of flowerpot polyps with cream-white, round-tipped tentacles circling hot pink centers. Photographed under blue spectrum reef lighting. Conditioned in our Key West systems.

Care Guide

Goniopora does best in a stable, established tank and tells you how it is doing by how far it extends.

• Lighting: Moderate. Start around 75–125 PAR and raise it slowly. Do not put a new colony straight into the brightest spot in the tank.
• Flow: Low to moderate and indirect. The polyps should sway, not whip around or fold flat to one side.
• Placement: Lower to middle rockwork, with room for the polyps to open all the way without touching rock or other corals.
• Feeding: Regular. Offer a fine planktonic or powdered coral food two or three times a week in small portions, and do not let leftovers sit.
• Aggression: Semi-aggressive by contact. Start with 4–6 inches of open space around it and add more if the extended polyps can reach a neighbor.
• Water Parameters: Temp 76–78°F, salinity 1.025–1.026, Alk 8–9 dKH, Ca 420–440, Mg 1300–1400. Stability matters more than exact numbers.

Keep salinity and alkalinity steady and change one thing at a time. Judge it by how it extends over several days, not by one closed-up afternoon after shipping.
