Packing and shipping are charged per box, not per coral. The $15 packing fee covers the insulated box, heat or ice packs and the time it takes to pack live coral safely; overnight UPS is the carrier cost of getting it out of Key West alive. A box typically holds around five small frags, so adding compatible corals to the same shipment usually will not add another packing or shipping charge. Larger colonies, species that cannot share water, or extreme weather can require a second box. Orders over $399 ship free.

Florida: $30 overnight livestock shipping. Qualifying Florida livestock orders under 6 lb ship overnight for a flat $30, plus the $15 packing fee. Heavier or mixed shipments use our standard overnight rate, and orders over $399 ship free either way.

Livestock ships to the continental US. Alaska needs a shipping quote before you order, and we cannot ship coral to Hawaii — get in touch first.

Description

Captain Jerk is a large-polyp palythoa morph with a patterned disc that stands out even in a mixed zoa garden. Native to the warm waters of the Indo-Pacific region, the Captain Jerk Palythoa is a hardy and relatively low-maintenance coral species, making it an excellent choice for beginner and experienced reef enthusiasts alike. It is as undemanding as palys get — moderate light, moderate flow — and like every palythoa it gets handled with gloves and eye protection. The name is ridiculous, which is half the reason people remember the coral. It fits either end of a tank’s life — an early colony in a new setup, or a pattern piece in an established zoa garden. Its ability to thrive in a variety of lighting and water flow conditions makes it a versatile and adaptable coral option for any tank. Bring the beauty of the ocean into your home with the Captain Jerk Palythoa.

Care Guide
Zoanthids (and their close relatives, Yuma/Palythoa) are colonial polyp corals prized for bold, saturated color and rapid spread. They’re hardy and adaptable to a wide range of lighting and flow, making them an excellent choice for reefers at any experience level — though as always, handle with gloves since zoanthids can contain palytoxin.

Water Flow: Low
Lighting: Medium
Feeding: Low

Placement: Lower to middle rockwork in a well-lit, low-flow area. Handle with gloves — palytoxin risk.
