Description

The Red Sea REEFER MAX 300 G3 takes the same G3 chassis and adds Red Sea’s full REEF-SPEC equipment package on top, so the system runs on day one instead of waiting on separately ordered filtration and lighting. Its display holds 65 gallons, the sump holds 15, and the whole system carries 79.3 gallons of water on a 35.4 by 22.6 inch footprint.

Volumes are the manufacturer’s figures for the system as built. Actual water volume in your room will be lower once rock and sand go in. Total height is measured to the top of the tank with it standing on its cabinet, so measure your ceiling and any shelf above the tank before you order.

The reason to buy MAX over the standard REEFER is not convenience, it is sizing. Every piece in the package is matched at the factory to this tank’s water volume, so skimming, flow and top-off are correct from the first day rather than guessed at and re-bought six months in.

Will it fit, and is it the right size for you

Three feet long and 22.6 inches deep is, to us, the first size in the line where the aquascape stops being a wall and starts being a landscape. There is enough depth to build two separate rock structures with a sand channel between them, which is what makes a mixed reef look deliberate instead of crowded.

What goes with the REEFER MAX 300 G3
