Description

The Red Sea REEFER Deluxe S-850 G3 pairs the G3 chassis with Red Sea’s ReefLED G2 lighting fitted and mounted at the factory, so the lighting is matched to the tank instead of chosen separately after the fact. Its display holds 179.6 gallons, the sump holds 45, and the whole system carries 224.5 gallons of water on a 70.9 by 26.8 inch footprint. This configuration ships with 3x ReefLED 170.

Volumes are the manufacturer’s figures for the system as built. Actual water volume in your room will be lower once rock and sand go in. Total height is measured to the top of the tank with it standing on its cabinet, so measure your ceiling and any shelf above the tank before you order.

Deluxe is the middle option. You get lighting handled and correctly mounted, and you still choose your own skimmer, roller and flow. If you already own lights you like, buy the standard REEFER instead and put the money into filtration.

Three ReefLED 170 units cover this length with enough intensity to keep SPS happy low in the tank, not just on the upper rockwork.

Will it fit, and is it the right size for you

Six feet by 26.8 inches, 179.6 gallons in the display and 224.5 in the system. This is a serious reef and it needs to be treated like one from the start. The 45 gallon sump gives you room for a full skimmer, a fleece roller and a dosing reservoir without anything fighting for space.

What goes with the REEFER Deluxe S-850 G3

A lid is the one accessory we tell people to buy at the same time as the tank, not later. Every wrasse, every anthias and most of the tangs worth owning will find the one gap you left open. The one cut for this exact model is the Red Sea mesh lid for the REEFER S-850.

• Skimming and mechanical filtration: the sump is cut for the REEFER DC 300, REEFER DC 600, REEFER DC 900 and the ReefMat 250, ReefMat 500, ReefMat 1200. Which size you want depends on how heavily you plan to stock and feed the tank, not only on the water volume, so call us and we will size it against your actual plan rather than a chart.
• In-tank flow: ReefWave 25 and ReefWave 45.
• Everything else Red Sea: salt, Reef Foundation, Trace Colors, test kits, dosing and ATO are all in our Red Sea department.
