Packing and shipping are charged per box, not per coral. The $15 packing fee covers the insulated box, heat or ice packs and the time it takes to pack live coral safely; overnight UPS is the carrier cost of getting it out of Key West alive. A box typically holds around five small frags, so adding compatible corals to the same shipment usually will not add another packing or shipping charge. Larger colonies, species that cannot share water, or extreme weather can require a second box. Orders over $399 ship free.

Florida: $30 overnight livestock shipping. Qualifying Florida livestock orders under 6 lb ship overnight for a flat $30, plus the $15 packing fee. Heavier or mixed shipments use our standard overnight rate, and orders over $399 ship free either way.

Livestock ships to the continental US. Alaska needs a shipping quote before you order, and we cannot ship coral to Hawaii — get in touch first.

Description

This individual Trachyphyllia Open Brain Coral is offered as WYSIWYG — the exact coral pictured is the one you will receive.

Trachyphyllia (Open Brain Corals) are prized LPS species known for their thick, fleshy, folded tissue that inflates dramatically under good flow and lighting, showing off striking color contrast between the fold ridges and the fleshy center. This piece displays vivid purple ridges surrounding a bright green center. In the wild, Trachyphyllia are typically found loose on sand beds, so they do best placed directly on sand or fine rubble rather than mounted to rock. They benefit from periodic target feeding of meaty foods for best growth and color.
