Packing and shipping are charged per box, not per coral. The $15 packing fee covers the insulated box, heat or ice packs and the time it takes to pack live coral safely; overnight UPS is the carrier cost of getting it out of Key West alive. A box typically holds around five small frags, so adding compatible corals to the same shipment usually will not add another packing or shipping charge. Larger colonies, species that cannot share water, or extreme weather can require a second box. Orders over $399 ship free.

Florida: $30 overnight livestock shipping. Qualifying Florida livestock orders under 6 lb ship overnight for a flat $30, plus the $15 packing fee. Heavier or mixed shipments use our standard overnight rate, and orders over $399 ship free either way.

Livestock ships to the continental US. Alaska needs a shipping quote before you order, and we cannot ship coral to Hawaii — get in touch first.

Description

You are buying the exact coral in the photo — a Rare Pink Wellsophyllia photographed under blue spectrum reef lighting. The skirt inflates into deep, evenly spaced folds that radiate out from the center like pleats, each one running a soft bubblegum pink over a darker raspberry base with fine parallel striations tracing the ridges. The oral disc sits raised in the middle in a contrasting lavender-blue, so the coral reads as two distinct colors from directly above. Pink is the uncommon color morph in this species — most Wellso come in green, red or orange. conditioned in our Key West systems, Florida under FL Aquaculture Certificate #AQ0254072.

About Wellsophyllia (Trachyphyllia radiata)

Wellsophyllia is the flatter, more circular form of the open brain coral, once given its own genus and still sold under the old name. Where a standard Trachyphyllia grows in a folded figure-eight, a Wellso spreads into a broad disc with a pleated margin, which is why it makes such a striking sandbed centerpiece. They are free-living, so they need no rock to attach to and will settle themselves into the substrate. Wild Wellso are collected from soft-bottom lagoons and often arrive with tissue recession at the margin; this piece was grown out on stable Key West parameters and has a full, healed skirt.

Care Guide

An easy, low-demand coral that inflates dramatically when it is comfortable and rewards direct feeding with fast tissue growth.

  • Lighting: Low to medium — PAR 50–150. Bright light will bleach the pink toward tan.
  • Flow: Low — gentle, indirect. Strong flow keeps the tissue from inflating properly.
  • Placement: Sandbed only. Give it a flat open spot and let it settle itself; do not glue it to rock.
  • Feeding: High — meaty foods. Target-feed mysis or a small piece of krill to the mouth two or three times a week.
  • Aggression: Semi — extends sweepers at night. Leave a few inches of open sand around it.
  • Water Parameters: Temp 76–78°F, salinity 1.025–1.026, Alk 8–9 dKH, Ca 420–440, Mg 1300–1400. Stability matters more than exact numbers.
