Description
You are buying the exact coral in the photo: one polyp of the Miami Joker Torch in the center of the frame. The purple torch at the top left and the corals in the background are not included. Under blue spectrum reef lighting the tentacles are lime green, glowing brighter toward the mouth, and each one ends in a soft pink to lavender tip. Conditioned in our Key West systems.
About Torch Coral (Euphyllia glabrescens)
Torch coral is a Euphyllia with long, flowing tentacles that sway in the current, each ending in a rounded tip. Miami Joker is a trade name for green torches tipped in pink and purple. A single polyp grows into a branching colony over time as the head splits.
Care Guide
Moderate care. Torches do best with stable water, moderate light and regular feeding, and they show it with full extension and new heads.
- Lighting: Medium, PAR 100–200. Acclimate it to new lighting over a week or two.
- Flow: Medium. Enough to keep the tentacles moving, never a direct jet.
- Placement: Mid rockwork, with plenty of open space around it.
- Feeding: Medium. Small meaty foods like mysis or coral pellets once or twice a week.
- Aggression: High. Torches put out long sweeper tentacles that sting nearby corals, so give it at least 6 inches of space. It can sit next to other Euphyllia.
- Water Parameters: Temp 76–78°F, salinity 1.025–1.026, Alk 8–9 dKH, Ca 420–440, Mg 1300–1400. Stability matters more than exact numbers.
