Packing and shipping are charged per box, not per coral. The $15 packing fee covers the insulated box, heat or ice packs and the time it takes to pack live coral safely; overnight UPS is the carrier cost of getting it out of Key West alive. A box typically holds around five small frags, so adding compatible corals to the same shipment usually will not add another packing or shipping charge. Larger colonies, species that cannot share water, or extreme weather can require a second box. Orders over $399 ship free.

Florida: $30 overnight livestock shipping. Qualifying Florida livestock orders under 6 lb ship overnight for a flat $30, plus the $15 packing fee. Heavier or mixed shipments use our standard overnight rate, and orders over $399 ship free either way.

Livestock ships to the continental US. Alaska needs a shipping quote before you order, and we cannot ship coral to Hawaii — get in touch first.

Description

You are buying the exact coral in the photo — an Ultra Scoly photographed under blue spectrum reef lighting. The disc is a single saturated fire-engine red across the entire surface, with the tissue broken into thousands of fine raised bubbles that catch the light and give the polyp a velvet texture rather than a flat wash. Concentric growth rings sweep around an off-center mouth, and a scatter of pale mint-blue flecks breaks up the outer margin and the mouth area. Solid single-color reds of this intensity are harder to find than multi-color rainbows and photograph exactly as they look in person. conditioned in our Key West systems, Florida under FL Aquaculture Certificate #AQ0254072.

About Scolymia (Scolymia / Homophyllia sp.)

The scoly is the classic collector LPS: a single large solitary polyp that spreads flat across the sandbed and does nothing but sit there being spectacular. They grow slowly, which is exactly why a full-size disc commands what it does — you cannot rush one to this diameter. Australian and Indonesian scolys have both tightened on collection in recent years, so Conditioned in our Key West systems pieces are increasingly the only reliable supply. This one has been grown out here in Key West, so it is already adapted to captive light and flow and inflates fully rather than sitting shrunken the way freshly imported wild pieces often do for months.

Care Guide

Low-maintenance and slow — the two things that matter are keeping light modest and feeding it directly.

  • Lighting: Low to medium — PAR 50–150. Reds hold best under moderate blue-heavy light; high PAR will pale the color.
  • Flow: Low to moderate — gentle indirect flow so nothing settles on the disc.
  • Placement: Sandbed or lower rockwork, flat and level with nothing overhanging it.
  • Feeding: High — meaty foods. Target-feed mysis or a small piece of krill to the mouth two or three times a week.
  • Aggression: Semi — extends feeder tentacles at night, so give it a few inches of clearance.
  • Water Parameters: Temp 76–78°F, salinity 1.025–1.026, Alk 8–9 dKH, Ca 420–440, Mg 1300–1400. Stability matters more than exact numbers.
