Description
WYSIWYG Captive Spawned Warpaint Scoly (Scolymia) – Approx. 1.5″. You are buying the exact coral in the photo. The disc is a fluorescent orange, marked with fine concentric rings that look like growth lines. Toward the center the color deepens to an orange-brown, with thin lines radiating out from the mouth. Small blue and dark accents break up the orange, and a ring of pale pink-white tipped feeder tentacles circles the mouth. It sits on a plug.
Captive spawned — the way of the future. This Scoly was spawned and raised in captivity in Australia, not collected from a wild reef. That matters. Every captive-spawned coral is one less coral taken off a reef, and it starts life in aquarium conditions instead of having to adjust to them later. We are proud to carry it, and we fully support captive-spawned corals at our shop. This is where the hobby is headed.
This is a young piece. With time and good care, it has the potential to grow into a master Scoly someday. For now, it is a beautiful little piece to grow out and watch change over time.
Care Guide
- Lighting: Low to moderate — PAR 50–150. Acclimate gradually.
- Flow: Low to moderate, gentle.
- Placement: On the sand bed or a low, stable spot.
- Feeding: Target feed small meaty foods (mysis, reef pellets) one to three times a week when feeder tentacles are out.
- Compatibility: Give it a few inches of space from aggressive neighbors.

- UPS Next Day Air, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. We hold the box if the weather at either end puts the animals at risk. Livestock ships in a 4-spot box: a frag takes 1 spot, a colony takes 2, and up to 4 spots ship for one shipping charge. Each box ships UPS Next Day Air for $30 in Florida or $50 elsewhere in the continental U.S. Eligible livestock orders of $299 or more ship the first box free. A $20 Box & Handling Fee applies per box, including on free-shipping orders. We do not ship to Alaska or Hawaii.
- Live arrival guaranteed. Photograph the animal in the sealed, unopened bag and send it to us within 4 hours of the delivery scan.
- Approved claims are resolved with a replacement or store credit. We do not issue cash refunds on livestock.
- Coverage is for condition on arrival and ends at acclimation.
