Description
Almost WYSIWYG. The photo shows the branching hammer colony this polyp comes from. You get one polyp from it, picked by us before it ships. Every head on this colony has the same coloring, but each one is a little different in size and tentacle count, so yours will not be one specific head in the frame. Under blue spectrum reef lighting the tentacle tips are minty green with a teal blue outline, so every tip looks traced in a second color. Conditioned in our Key West systems.
Want more than one? This polyp came off a colony we fragged about four months ago, and we have about 10 polyps from it. Send us a message and we can set you up with several.
About Branching Hammer (Euphyllia paraancora)
Branching hammer is a Euphyllia that grows as separate heads on a branching skeleton, so a colony can be split into single-polyp frags without cutting through a wall. Each head is its own polyp, which makes a one-polyp frag a complete coral that keeps branching as it grows. The tentacles end in flattened tips shaped like a hammer or a kidney bean.
Care Guide
Moderate care. Hammers want steady alkalinity, and a big swing is what usually makes them pull in.
- Lighting: Medium, PAR 75–150. Too much light makes the tentacles shrink back.
- Flow: Medium. Enough to move the tentacles gently, never enough to tear at them.
- Placement: Mid rockwork or sandbed, with clear space around it.
- Feeding: Medium. It is photosynthetic and does better with small meaty foods like mysis a couple of times a week.
- Aggression: Puts out sweeper tentacles at night that sting. Give it 4 to 6 inches from non-Euphyllia corals.
- Water Parameters: Temp 76–78°F, salinity 1.025–1.026, Alk 8–9 dKH, Ca 420–440, Mg 1300–1400. Stability matters more than exact numbers.
Shipping & Live Arrival Guarantee
Livestock ships Tuesday or Wednesday by UPS Next Day Air from Key West, Florida. Packed in an insulated box with a heat or cold pack matched to current conditions, and secured so the specimen cannot move in transit.
- Fill your box: up to 4 spots ship for one shipping charge. A frag, zoa, small WYSIWYG, cleanup-crew pack or small dry good takes 1 spot. A colony takes 2. A rare big colony takes all 4 and ships alone.
- Qualifying Florida livestock: $30 per box.
- All other eligible lower-48 livestock: $50 per box.
- Box & Handling Fee: $20 per box, for the insulated box plus ice or heat packs, in addition to the shipping charge above.
- Spots 2 through 4 in a box add no extra shipping. A fifth spot starts a second box, which pays its own shipping and Box & Handling Fee.
- Free livestock transportation begins at $299 in qualifying livestock subtotal and covers shipping on the first box. Each extra box pays its shipping rate. WYSIWYG livestock counts toward that subtotal; dry goods do not.
- The $20 Box & Handling Fee applies to every box, including on free-transportation orders.
- We do not ship orders of any kind to Alaska or Hawaii.
Live arrival is guaranteed. If your animal arrives DOA, photograph it inside the unopened bag within four (4) hours of delivery confirmation and contact us right away with those photos. We will work with you on a resolution.

Placement: Mid rockwork or sandbed in medium light, with a clear zone for its night sweeper tentacles.
