Description
You are buying the exact coral in the photo: the plate that fills the frame. The green piece in the lower left corner is not included. This chalice is approximately 1.5″ across. Under blue spectrum reef lighting the whole plate glows neon green, with a fine fuzzy texture and ridges running out toward a scalloped edge. Several dark mouths, or eyes, sit scattered across the surface. Conditioned in our Key West systems.
About Chalice Coral
Chalices are plating LPS corals that grow outward in thin, flat sheets. Each plate carries several mouths, called eyes, and collectors judge chalices by how the eye color plays against the base color. This one keeps it simple with a solid neon green plate and dark eyes, so the green does all the work under actinic light.
Care Guide
Moderate care. Chalices reward lower, diffused light and regular feeding with steady plating growth and stronger color.
- Lighting: Low to Medium — PAR 50–150, diffused. Too much light can wash out the color.
- Flow: Low to Medium — gentle flow across the plate keeps it clean.
- Placement: Lower rockwork, angled so the plate can spread.
- Feeding: Medium — small meaty foods or coral pellets once or twice a week.
- Aggression: Semi-aggressive. It puts out sweepers at night, so give it a few inches of space.
- Water Parameters: Temp 76–78°F, salinity 1.025–1.026, Alk 8–9 dKH, Ca 420–440, Mg 1300–1400. Stability matters more than exact numbers.
