Description
You are buying the exact coral in the photo — an XL Orange & Gold Glitter Acan colony, a true showpiece aquacultured at The Underwater Gardener in Key West, Florida (FL Certificate #AQ0254072). Packed with fat, fully-inflated polyps in fiery orange-red with shimmering gold and mint “glitter” speckling and bright centers, photographed under blue spectrum reef lighting. Colonies this size and this saturated almost never come up for sale intact.
One week only. This colony will be listed as a complete WYSIWYG piece for one week. After that it comes down and gets fragged — so this is your only window to own it whole.
About Acan Colonies (Acanthastrea / Micromussa lordhowensis)
Acans are among the most collectible LPS in the hobby, prized for dense rows of jewel-toned polyps and outrageous fluorescence. A large, established multi-head colony is far more than the sum of its frags — it’s an instant centerpiece with years of growth already built in. Aquacultured stock like this is hardy, well-adapted to aquarium life, and ready to keep growing for you.
Care Guide
A rewarding, forgiving LPS that colors up beautifully in a stable tank.
- Lighting: Low to medium — PAR 50–150. Moderate light holds the deepest color; too much washes it out.
- Flow: Low to moderate — gentle, indirect flow lets the polyps inflate fully.
- Placement: Sandbed or lower rockwork with a little space around it.
- Feeding: High — loves meaty foods (mysis, small seafood chunks) a few times a week for fast growth.
- Aggression: Semi-aggressive — give it room from other corals.
- Water Parameters: Temp 76–78°F, salinity 1.025–1.026, Alk 8–9 dKH, Ca 420–440, Mg 1300–1400. Stability matters more than exact numbers.
