Description
You are buying the exact coral in the photo. This is a 4″ Confused Ultra UFO Scoly, named for the glowing ring around its center. Under blue spectrum reef lighting, a bright neon green line outlines the whole oral disc like the rim of a saucer. Inside it, the center is deep blue with pale blue-white bumps. The outer disc is purple and magenta, with soft pink and peach patches near the top and bottom and splashes of neon green along one edge. No two areas of this scoly carry the same color, which is what makes it a Confused piece. Conditioned in our Key West systems and photographed in our showroom.
About Scolymia (Scoly)
Scolys are large single-polyp LPS corals known for fleshy, rounded discs and bold color. “Confused” is the trade term for a scoly whose colors do not follow one clean pattern, and “UFO” describes the bright ring around the mouth. A 4″ piece with both is a true centerpiece. Each one is unique, which is why they are sold as one-of-a-kind specimens.
Care Guide
Easy to moderate care. Scolys reward lower light, gentle flow and regular feeding with full inflation and steady growth.
- Lighting: Low to Medium — PAR 50–150. Too much light can fade the color.
- Flow: Low to moderate — enough to keep it clean without pushing the tissue around.
- Placement: Sandbed or the lowest rock, where it can fully inflate.
- Feeding: High — meaty foods like mysis, chopped shrimp or coral pellets placed on its mouth once or twice a week. Scolys grow faster and hold color better when fed.
- Aggression: Semi-aggressive. It can put out sweepers at night, so give it a few inches of space.
- Water Parameters: Temp 76–78°F, salinity 1.025–1.026, Alk 8–9 dKH, Ca 420–440, Mg 1300–1400. Stability matters more than exact numbers.
