The $10 Box & Handling Fee is charged per box, not per coral. It covers the insulated box, heat or ice packs and the time it takes to pack live coral safely. UPS Next Day Air is one flat livestock shipping charge per order, the carrier cost of getting it out of Key West alive. A box typically holds around five small frags, so adding compatible corals to the same shipment usually will not add another box fee or change the shipping charge. Larger colonies, species that cannot share water, or extreme weather can require a second box. Orders with $349 or more in qualifying livestock ship free.

Description

Freak Hair Pavona is an encrusting SPS coral with an unusually textured surface and pronounced polyp extension. The retail name describes this aquarium strain and is not a verified species designation.

Care Guide

Pavona corals respond best to stable reef conditions, clean water, and randomized circulation that prevents debris from settling on the growing surface. Acclimate this coral gradually and judge final placement by coloration, tissue condition, polyp response, and new growth.

Placement: Upper to middle rockwork on an encrusting base, with moderate to strong flow.

Feeding

Primarily photosynthetic. Optional amino acids or very fine suspended foods may support growth when used sparingly. Avoid heavy feeding that raises nutrients or coats the coral.

Placement and Acclimation

Begin below the intended final position and increase exposure gradually. Provide indirect, variable circulation rather than a constant jet, and secure the frag so its encrusting edge has room to expand.

What to Expect

Shipping and handling can temporarily reduce polyp extension. Give the coral stable conditions and time to settle before changing placement. Actual coloration depends on spectrum, intensity, nutrients, and acclimation.
