Description
You are buying the exact coral in the photo — a stunning Ultra Neon Green Lampung Hairy Mushroom (Rhodactis sp.) photographed under blue spectrum reef lighting. The fluorescence on this specimen is extraordinary — a full-body neon green with blue-tipped surface texture that glows like nothing else under actinic lighting.
About Lampung Hairy Mushrooms
Lampung Hairy Mushrooms originate from the Lampung region of Indonesia and are among the most prized and sought-after mushroom corals in the reef hobby. Named for the dense, hair-like tubercles covering their surface, Lampung mushrooms are known for their incredible fluorescent coloration — ranging from electric green to deep purple — and their ability to captivate even the most experienced reefers.
This particular specimen displays an exceptional uniform neon green across the entire disc, with dense blue-tipped surface texture that creates a stunning visual effect under blue and actinic lighting. Lampung mushrooms at this color intensity are genuinely rare and command strong prices in the collector market.
Unlike most soft corals, Lampung Hairy Mushrooms are slow to reproduce, which keeps their availability limited and their value high. A specimen this vibrant is a serious addition to any soft coral or mushroom-focused display.
Care Guide
Lampung Hairy Mushrooms are hardy and well suited to a wide range of reef setups including beginner tanks.
- Lighting: Low to Medium — PAR 30–100. Intense direct light can cause bleaching or retraction. Shaded placement under a ledge or in a lower flow area is ideal.
- Flow: Low to Moderate — gentle indirect flow. Strong direct flow will cause the mushroom to retract and can stress the animal.
- Placement: Bottom tank on sand or rock in a low-flow, lower-light area.
- Feeding: Not required — photosynthetic. Will benefit from occasional light target feeding with Reef-Roids or small particulate foods.
- Aggression: Low — mushrooms can spread and overtake nearby corals over time. Monitor placement as the colony grows.
- Water Parameters: Temp 76–80°F | Salinity 1.025–1.026 | dKH 8–10 | Ca 400–450 | Mg 1250–1350
