About Wagon Wheel Mushrooms

“Wagon Wheel” mushrooms are prized corallimorphs whose tentacles branch into fine, feathery clusters that radiate out like spokes — giving them a completely different look from smooth bounce or hairy mushrooms. Rainbow multi-color morphs like this “Frankenstein” are highly collectible. Hardy and forgiving, they settle in and slowly spread to form a colony over time. Aquacultured stock is well-adapted and display-ready.

• Lighting: Low to medium — PAR 50–120. Moderate light holds the color best; strong light can bleach it.
• Flow: Low — gentle, indirect flow so the tentacles extend fully.
• Placement: Sandbed or shaded lower rockwork where it can attach and stay put.
• Feeding: Low — largely photosynthetic; occasional small meaty spot-feeds speed growth.
• Aggression: Peaceful — but it spreads, so give it its own patch.
• Water Parameters: Temp 76–78°F, salinity 1.025–1.026, Alk 8–9 dKH, Ca 420–440, Mg 1300–1400. Stability matters more than exact numbers.
