Description
Cupramine is a buffered ionic copper treatment for external parasites on saltwater fish, principally ich (Cryptocaryon) and velvet (Amyloodinium). It works at a lower copper concentration than older formulations, which is easier on the fish while still clearing the parasite.
Quarantine tank only. Copper is lethal to corals, snails, shrimp, crabs and every other invertebrate, and it binds into rock and sand, so a dosed display stays contaminated long after treatment ends. Run it in a bare quarantine system, keep a copper test kit beside it, and hold the therapeutic level for the full course – underdosing is the single most common reason a treatment fails and the parasite comes back.
