This is our Key West Zoa Mystery Box — five aquacultured zoanthid and soft coral frags, hand-selected at our discretion from our own coral farm in the Florida Keys. Every box includes at least two designer (named) zoa morphs plus a few of the really cool corals we grow out back that never make it into the photographed listings. Because we choose from live farm stock, you get more coral for your money than buying singles — and a few pleasant surprises. Aquacultured in Key West.
About Zoanthids (Zoanthus & Palythoa)
Zoanthids are colonial soft corals that grow in mats of button-like polyps in almost every color combination imaginable. They’re among the hardiest, fastest-spreading corals in the hobby, which makes them perfect for beginners and endlessly collectible for veterans. Designer named morphs command a premium as singles; our aquacultured farm stock is captive-grown, pest-managed, and already adjusted to aquarium life — hardier than wild or maricultured zoas.
Care Guide
Zoanthids are beginner-friendly and reward stable water and moderate light with fast growth and vivid color.
- Lighting: Medium — PAR 100–250. Bright enough for color without bleaching.
- Flow: Medium — enough to keep detritus off the polyps.
- Placement: Anywhere from sandbed to rockwork; they’ll spread across whatever they touch.
- Feeding: Low to medium — largely photosynthetic; occasional fine foods boost growth.
- Aggression: Peaceful but encroaching — give them room to grow into.
- Water Parameters: Temp 76–78°F, salinity 1.025–1.026, Alk 8–9 dKH, Ca 420–440, Mg 1300–1400. Stability matters more than exact numbers.
A note on handling: Zoanthids and palythoas can carry palytoxin. Wear gloves and eye protection when handling and fragging, and never boil or scrape rock with zoas on it.
Ships UPS Next Day Air every Tuesday and Wednesday from Key West, Florida. Packed with insulated box and heat or cold pack appropriate for current conditions. Frags are carefully secured to prevent movement during transit.
Placement: Start low to mid on the rockwork or sandbed in moderate light and flow; zoas will spread across adjacent surfaces as they settle in.

- UPS Next Day Air, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. We hold the box if the weather at either end puts the animals at risk. Florida livestock orders under 6 lb ship UPS Next Day Air at $30. Other continental-U.S. orders use the applicable UPS Next Day Air rate. Eligible livestock orders of $349 or more ship free. A $10 Box & Handling Fee applies per box, including on free-shipping orders. We do not ship to Alaska or Hawaii.
- Live arrival guaranteed. Photograph the animal in the sealed, unopened bag and send it to us within 4 hours of the delivery scan.
- Approved claims are resolved with a replacement or store credit. We do not issue cash refunds on livestock.
