An open reef tank loses two things: fish and water. The jumping wrasse is the obvious one. The evaporation is the expensive one, because it is what moves your salinity overnight and keeps the top-off running.
Kraken lids are cut for a specific tank rather than trimmed to fit one. That is the whole difference. The mesh sits in a frame made for that model’s rim, so it clears the overflow, the return and the light mount instead of being cut around them with a knife.
This page holds the Waterbox fitments and the lids cut to fit Reef Casa tanks. Red Sea REEFER lids live with the rest of the Red Sea range, on the Red Sea Lids page. Match the lid to the exact model name and revision printed on your tank, because a REEF and a REEF DX of the same volume do not always share a rim.
A lid also cuts the salt creep on your light and keeps airborne debris out of the sump. Most people buy one after they lose a fish. It is a cheaper lesson to skip.
Not sure which row is your tank? The Lid Finder lists every Red Sea, Waterbox and Reef Casa model next to the lid cut for it.
