You are buying the exact coral in the photo — a vivid, fully-encrusted Rainbow Acan Lord colony roughly 6″ across, photographed under blue spectrum reef lighting. Every corallite on this piece is packed shoulder-to-shoulder, ringed in fiery orange-red and glowing meat with electric blue, teal, and aqua centers. It’s a true showpiece colony with dozens of mouths carpeting a domed skeleton — no dead spots, no filler. Aquacultured right here in Key West, Florida (FL Aquaculture Certificate #AQ0254072).
Colony now — or frags later. We list our Acan Lords as full WYSIWYG colonies first. If a colony doesn’t sell within its first week, we pull it and cut it down into smaller frags that we sell individually for around $49 each. About the Acan Lord (Micromussa lordhowensis, formerly Acanthastrea lordhowensis)
The Acan Lord is one of the most collectible LPS corals in the hobby, prized for the insane color combinations packed into its fleshy, ridged polyps. A colony this size — with this many mouths already fused into one continuous piece — represents years of growth and is far harder to find than the single-polyp frags most stores carry. Because ours is aquacultured under reef lighting rather than wild-harvested, it arrives already adapted to aquarium conditions, colors locked in, with none of the shipping shock or die-off common to imported wild colonies.
Care Guide
Acan Lords are a hardy, beginner-friendly LPS that reward steady parameters and regular feeding with explosive color and growth.
- Lighting: Low-Medium — PAR 50–150. Too much light washes out the color; moderate light keeps the reds and blues saturated.
- Flow: Low to Moderate — enough to keep detritus off the polyps without deflating them.
- Placement: Sandbed or lower rockwork.
- Feeding: High — target-feed meaty foods (mysis, small pellets, coral foods) a few times a week to fuel fast growth.
- Aggression: Semi — give it a little space; it can extend sweeper tentacles at night.
- Water Parameters: Temp 76–78°F, salinity 1.025–1.026, Alk 8–9 dKH, Ca 420–440, Mg 1300–1400. Stability matters more than exact numbers.
